TEHRAN -- The Spanish government is to hold courses on Islamology and Islamic mysticism for teachers of religious education, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Friday.

Ahmad Taheri, the teacher of the courses, said that they will begin this week, with the goal of familiarizing Spanish school teachers with Islam.

“They will become familiar with the principles of Islam, characteristics of the religion of Islam, and the views of Islam toward other religions in the Islamology course. In addition, the history of mysticism in Islam, the foundations of Islamic mysticism, and mystical literature will be discussed in the course on Islamic mysticism,” he added.

The courses will last for four weeks, he explained.

The Spanish government has announced its objection to the offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (S) recently published in some Western periodicals and seeks to increase Spaniards’ knowledge about Prophet Muhammad (S) and the religion of Islam.
